Dr. Diane Krueck Mahoney (BA, M.Ed., C.A.G.S., Ph.D.) is a psychologist with a masters degree in counseling, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in psychology, and a doctorate in clinical psychology.
Diane practiced in the field of psychotherapy for over several decades. She founded Halcyon Psychological Services, Inc., which she co-owned with her husband, Richard. Through her entrepreneurial skills, Halcyon developed into a highly successful, multi-faceted psychological and training service. In addition to traditional psychotherapy, Halcyon also provided consultation services to nursing facilities, chemical dependency assessments, and a drug diversion program for courts, employee assistance programs, training for local companies, and seminars on various topics.
Diane first became interested in anger through her work in child abuse. Later, in her work with couples, she frequently encountered the angry husband dynamic, and with these couples, she began to use her discoveries about anger to help them to heal their relationships, with great success. It was her expertise as a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor that led to her discovery of anger’s similarity to a drug in its addictive nature.
Diane taught these concepts for several years in her drug diversion program: she found that anger is often the “generic drug” that precedes alcohol and other drug abuse.
